Lake Forest College men's soccer player Mahir Mameledzija was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Foresters' conference championship-clinching 3-0 victory over visiting Lawrence University on Saturday.
Mameledzija, a senior forward, scored a pair of second half goals just 76 seconds apart to help clinch the victory. He now has a league-high 18 scores this season and moved into first place in the league with 38 points. Those totals currently rank seventh and 20th in the nation, respectively.
The victory in the Foresters' regular season finale gave them a 9-1-0 mark in league play and clinched their second straight MWC title. Lake Forest also earned the right to host the four-team MWC Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
Mameledzija raised his program record career total for goals to 71 and points to 161. His 19 career assists rank 10th in team annals.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. It was Mameledzija's fourth such award this season and he has now earned the honor 11 times in his career.
