Lake Forest Blanks Beloit, Remains Undefeated in MWC Play

The Forester men's soccer team defeated visiting Beloit College 3-0 Wednesday evening to raise its Midwest Conference record on the season to 6-0-0. Sophomore Jeremiah Erzen recorded an assist to become the 14th Lake Forest player with at least one point this season.

Erzen took a pass from junior Cooper King and fed senior Mahir Mameledzija for his team-high 13th goal this season. It made the score 3-0 at the 33:25 mark.

Lake Forest's first two goals were scored by sophomore Dylan Hartman, who has now has six in as many games this year. Crisp passes by Mameledzija and senior Alexi Spiratos set up his first score at 9:48 and the second was unassisted at 18:53.

Forester senior goalkeeper Ethan Guenther blanked the Buccaneers for the game's first 61:15 and freshman goalie Kristian Nilssen finished off the team's third consecutive shutout. Both players recorded a save as Lake Forest extended its streak of not allowing a goal to more than 250 minutes.

The home team had a 9-3 advantage in shots during the first half and a 7-1 edge in the second.

The Foresters are now 9-5-0 overall this season. Beloit fell to 0-11-1 overall and 0-5-0 in league play.

Lake Forest will travel to Knox College Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
