Late Goal Gives Foresters 1-0 Victory at Whitewater

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team won 1-0 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the sixth-ranked team in the North Region, on Saturday. Forester sophomore Themis Mourikes scored the only goal of the game with just 37 seconds remaining.

It was the first goal of the season for Mourikes and his first career game-winning score. The goal was set up by sharp passes from junior Maximus Shaw and sophomore Dylan Hartman, who came into the contest having scored four of the team's last five goals.

Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Ethan Guenther made four saves in the contest, including three in the first half. His second straight 1-0 shutout made him 3-2-0 with a 0.87 goals against average and .871 save percentage on the year.

The Foresters had a 6-4 advantage in shots in the first half and a 7-3 edge in the second. Lake Forest also had four corner kick opportunities to the Warhawks' two.

It was the final non-conference game of the regular season for the Foresters, who are now 8-5-0 overall on the year and 5-5-0 in one-goal games. Whitewater, which was ranked among the top 25 in the nation earlier in the season, fell to 11-3-0.

Lake Forest will host Beloit College Wednesday afternoon at 4:00.
