Foresters Are Only Undefeated Team in MWC Play after 1-0 Triumph at Carroll

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory at Carroll University Wednesday night in a battle between the only unbeaten teams in Midwest Conference play. Senior goalkeeper Ethan Guenther made five saves in his first shutout of the season.

Guenther stopped a pair of Pioneer shots on goal in the first half and three more in the second. He is now 2-2-0 this season with an .852 save percentage and 1.11 goals against average. He is now alone in third place in program history with nine career shutouts.

The only goal of the game was scored by sophomore Dylan Hartman, who kicked it in from 18 yards out off a corner kick from senior Alexi Spiratos at 71:00. It was Hartman's fourth goal in as many games this season and the fourth assist of the year for Spiratos, whose 19th career assist broke a tie with current assistant coach Attila Schmidt for ninth place in team history.

Both teams attempted three shots in the first half and Carroll had a 7-3 advantage in that category in the final 45 minutes. The Foresters' goal was scored on one of the visitors' three corner kick opportunities on the night while Guenther and the rest of the Lake Forest defense prevented the Pioneers from scoring on any of their six corner kicks.

The Foresters are now 7-5-0 overall this season and a perfect 5-0-0 in MWC play. Carroll fell to 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will play it's final non-conference game of the regular season Saturday afternoon at 3:00 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
