Taylor and Mameledzija Sweep MWC Performer of the Week Awards

Lake Forest College men's soccer players Ian Taylor and Mahir Mameledzija were named Midwest Conference Defensive and Offensive Performer of the Week, respectively, on Monday for their performance in a 4-0 victory over visiting St. Norbert College on Saturday.

Taylor, a junior goalkeeper, made a pair of saves in his third shutout and fourth scoreless start of the season. He has now held opponents scoreless for nearly 300 minutes and he became the fourth different Forester goalie to blank the Green Knights in as many seasons. Taylor raised his record on the season to 4-2-0 and lowered his goals against average to 0.63.

Mameledzija scored the first two goals of the game. He gave the home team the early lead at 18:38 and doubled the Forester advantage less than five minutes into the second half. His first goal moved him into first place in program history in career points and his second lifted that total to 145. He has scored 11 times already this season and now has three multi-goal games on the year and 19 in his career.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Taylor also earned the honor once as a freshman and Mameledzija has now accumulated nine such awards in his career.
