Foresters Rout St. Norbert for Third Straight Victory

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team defeated visiting St. Norbert College 4-0 on Saturday. Forester junior goalkeeper Ian Taylor made a pair of saves in his third shutout of the season.

Taylor became the third member of the team's current goalkeeping crew to hold the Green Knights scoreless for 90 minutes. Seniors Giancarlo Colasanti and Ethan Guenther accomplished the feat in 2011 and 2012, respectively. Taylor is now 4-2-0 with a 0.63 goals against average this year.

Senior Mahir Mameledzija started the scoring at the 18:38 mark. Classmate Alexi Spiratos had sent the ball into the goalkeeper box, where the Green Knight goalie was unable to secure it and Mameledzija took advantage, giving the Foresters the lead. It also gave Mameledzija 143 career points, one more than Bryan Porto, the program's previous record-holder in that category.

The score remained 1-0 until Mameledzija struck again less than five minutes into the second half. After faking left, right, and left again, he sent the ball into the St. Norbert goal for his 11th score of the season.

The home team added to its lead just four minutes later when freshman Ellis Rutilli netted his second goal of the year. He took a pass from junior Cooper King and kicked the ball off a St. Norbert defender and into the goal.

The game's final tally came off the foot of Dylan Hartman with 10:14 to play. His first goal of the season came off a cross from senior Steven Johnson.

Lake Forest raised its overall record to 5-4-0 and posted its third victory in as many Midwest Conference games. St. Norbert fell to 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the league.

The Foresters will play a non-conference game at the University of Chicago Tuesday afternoon at 4:00.
