Late Goal Costs Foresters in 2-1 Loss to St. Thomas

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by visiting University of St. Thomas on Sunday. Forester senior Mahir Mameledzija scored the home team's only goal.

Mameledzija tied the score at one less than three minutes into the second half. His fourth goal of the season was assisted by fellow senior Alexi Spiratos, who is now tied for 12th place in program history with 16 assists in his career. Mameledzija now trails 1972 graduate Bryan Porto's team record of 61 career goals by just five scores.

St. Thomas had taken the lead in the 38th minute with the game's first score. The Tommies finally netted the game-winner with just 1:03 to play in the second half.

The visitors had a 17-6 edge in shots and attempted 13 corner kicks to the Foresters' two.

Lake Forest senior Ethan Guenther made six saves in the second half before the Tommies netted the game-winner.

The Foresters fell to 2-2-0 on the season while St. Thomas raised its record to 3-1-0.

Lake Forest will host another non-conference game against Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday at 4:30 p.m.
