Overtime Goal Downs Foresters against Aurora

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 in overtime by visiting Aurora University on Monday. Senior Steven Johnson's first goal of the season was not enough for the Foresters.

Johnson's goal was set up by quick passes by freshman Ellis Rutili and sophomore Themis Mourikes and tied the score at the 23:29 mark. Mourikes already has three assists in two games this season, matching his total from all of last year.

Aurora had taken the early lead on a penalty kick goal at 18:21.

Lake Forest had a 7-2 advantage in shots in the opening period and a 6-4 edge in the second.

The Trojans, who also defeated the Foresters in overtime last season, scored the game-winner just 18 seconds into the extra period.

Lake Forest is now 1-1-0 on the year while Aurora has two victories in as many games.

The Foresters will try to rebound at the University of Dubuque Friday night at 7:30.
