Lake Forest Blanks St. Norbert College 2-0

The Forester men's soccer team hosted and defeated St. Norbert College 2-0 on Sunday. Sophomore Mahir Mameledzija's second-half goal was his team-high 11th of the season.

Senior Nelson Dorvlo started the scoring at the 26:41 mark of the first period. His fourth goal of the season was assisted by sophomore Alexi Spiratos, who leads the team with six helpers this season.

Dorvlo also earned an assist on Mameledzija's score at 63:34. The ball was crossed by senior Chris Haught-Thompson, sent toward the goal by Dorvlo, blocked by the St. Norbert goalkeeper, and then kicked in by Mameledzija.

Lake Forest out-shot the Green Knights 10-5 in the first half and 9-5 in the second. The Foresters had 10 corner kick opportunities and forced St. Norbert to make nine saves.

It was the third shutout of the season for Forester junior Giancarlo Colasanti, who had one save and lowered his goals against average on the year to 0.52.

Lake Forest wore jerseys with pink numerals as part of the Foresters' Playing for a Cure initiative.

The home team raised its overall record to 10-2-2 and evened its Midwest Conference mark at 2-2-1. The Green Knights fell to 1-10-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league.

The Foresters will play thier next three games on the road, beginning with another conference contest at Ripon College Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
