The Lake Forest College men's soccer team defeated visiting Knox
College 3-1 on Saturday (October 3), evening its overall record at
5-5-1 and Midwest Conference mark at 2-2-1. The Prairie Fire fell
to 3-7-0 overall and 0-2-0 in league play.
The Foresters took the lead 16 minutes and 15 seconds into the
contest when sophomore Nelson Dorvlo (St. Louis, Mo./University
City) took a pass from classmate Robbie Weis (Deerfield,
Ill./Deerfield) and used the outside of his right foot to send the
ball past the Knox goalie. It was Dorvlo's team-high fourth goal of
the season and the only score by either team in the first half.
Sophomore Chris Haught-Thompson (Westchester, Ohio/Lakota East)
doubled the home team's lead with his first career goal at 50:14.
He scored again 10 minutes later, giving the Foresters a 3-0
advantage.
Knox finally got on the scoreboard with 5:50 to play in the
game.
Forester junior goalkeeper Tom Biesiada (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake
Central) earned the victory and raised his record on the season to
4-2-1.
Lake Forest will be back out on Farwell Field tomorrow (October 4)
when the team hosts UW-Whitewater in a non-conference game. The
contest begins at 2:00 p.m.
