The Forester men's lacrosse team was defeated 27-9 by UMass Boston in Davenport, Florida, on Thursday.

Sophomore Chas Dean led Lake Forest with three goals in the contest for his first hat trick since the season opener. He now has eight on the year.

Dean's first of the day made the score 3-2 in favor of the Beacons with 9:53 to play in the opening quarter. Sophomore Bode Rubright had evened the score at one two-and-a-half minutes into the contest. UMass Boston then closed out the period with five unanswered goals and started the second with three more to take a 11-2 lead. Dean struck twice, including once with a man-up, in the middle of the second but three more tallies from the Beacons made it a 14-4 game at halftime.

Senior Bobby Ojascastro and junior John Casey scored man-up goals in the third quarter, which ended with the Foresters trailing 19-6. They were outscored 8-3 in the fourth with Lake Forest tallied coming from sophomore Trip Gaston and freshman Grant Pedersen and Ryan Dousevicz.

Sophomore Jack Gillard led the Foresters with three caused turnovers and freshman John O'Reilly with four ground balls.

Three Lake Forest goaltenders combined to make 27 saves while UMass-Boston's three goalies also stopped exactly half of the Foresters' shots on goal.

The loss leaves the Foresters with a record of 5-3 while UMass-Boston improved to 4-3.

Lake Forest will close out its Spring Break trip against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Saturday at noon (EDT).
