The Forester men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-11 decision to visiting Calvin College on Saturday.

The majority of Lake Forest's offensive output came from sophomores Trip Gaston and Bode Rubright, who combined for nine goals and four assists in the contest. Gaston's first score of the day tied the game at one and, after freshman Brendan Herbert gave the Foresters the lead, Rubright's first made it a 3-1 game after six minutes of play.

Calvin, however, accounted for the final three tallies of the first quarter and the first four of the second. Rubright ended the run with back-to-back scores in the final two minutes of the second quarter and the Foresters trailed 8-5 at halftime.

The teams traded goals throughout the third quarter. After the Knights regained their four-goal cushion, Rubright's fourth of the game and 13th this season trimmed the margin to three, as did two more scores from Gaston.

The visitors took an 11-8 lead into the final period and added to it two-and-a-half minutes in. Gaston assisted on freshman Mario Florio's 11th of the year and then scored two more of his own to cut the deficit to one. Gaston now has a dozen tallies this season and his five goals and seven points on the day were just one shy of his career-highs.

Calvin netted what turned out to be the final score of th contest with 3:46 remaining and held on for the victory.

Forester sophomore goaltender Andrew Widlar finished the afternoon with a season-high 11 saves.

Sophomore Conor Murphy led Lake Forest with three caused turnovers while classmate Jack Gillard and freshman Grant Pedersen shared team-high honors with six ground balls apiece.

The Knights won 19 of 28 faceoffs and converted four of seven man-up opportunities in the contest. The Foresters were 1-for-4 with an opponent player in the penalty area.

Lake Forest is now 5-2 and Calvin 4-3 this year.

The Foresters will travel to Florida for a pair of games during Spring Break next week. They will take on UMass Boston on Thursday and Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham on Saturday.
