The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team was defeated 22-9 by visiting Carthage College on Wednesday, ending the Foresters' five-game winning streak to open the season.

Lake Forest senior Bobby Ojascastro recorded his first career hat trick and his first goal of the day gave the home team a 2-1 lead less than three minutes into the contest. The Firebirds, however, controlled the rest of the opening quarter and led 6-2 after 15 minutes of play.

The teams alternated goals in the second, each scoring four times. Junior John Casey started it off and sophomore Bode Rubright's ninth of the year was next for the Foresters. Freshman Ryan Dousevicz scored for the second time in the game and matched Rubright's season total and Ojascastro struck again late in the period

Already ahead 10-6 at halftime, Carthage rattled off nine consecutive goals in the third quarter. Casey finally ended the run in the closing seconds with his team-high 17th score of the season.

The Firebirds added three more early in the fourth before Forester freshman Brant Schuckman scored his first career goal and Ojascastro completed the hat trick with his eighth tally of the year.

Lake Forest freshman John O'Reilly led all players in the game with six ground balls while sophomore Conor Murphy had a game-high three caused turnovers.

The Foresters fell to 5-1 while Carthage improved to 3-1.

Lake Forest will be in action again on Saturday, hosting Calvin College at 1:00 p.m.
