Andrew Widlar Named Men's Forester Athlete of the Week

For his performance against Cornell College and University of Dubuque in the MLC Championship Tournament last week, men's lacrosse freshman Andrew Widlar was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Widlar recorded a season high 16 saves in the Foresters' semifinal win against Cornell College. During the game, there was some contact between Widlar and a Cornell player, and he suffered a torn meniscus; he'd stay in the game and play against University of Dubuque despite the injury.

During the game against Dubuque, Widlar bested the season high he set against Cornell with 21 saves, including six saves in the fourth quarter to help Lake Forest close a three goal deficit and send the MLC Championship game into overtime. He made another two saves in the extra period before Dubuque was able to score and win the game.

Over the course of the two tournament games, Widlar posted a 68.5 save percentage.

Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the athletic department on Tuesdays.
