Conor Murphy Named MLC Defensive Player of the Week

Lake Forest College's Conor Murphy was named Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Foresters to victory in the first league game in program history on Saturday.

Lake Forest prevailed 10-6 at Northland College and limited the Lumberjacks to just 14 shots on goal in the contest.

Murphy, a freshman defender, was tasked with guarding the conference leader in goals per game (4.0 entering Saturday) and reigning MLC Offensive Player of the Week. He allowed him to score just once on the contest. Murphy caused four turnovers and was credited with three ground balls.

Easily the team's leader with 17 caused turnovers this season, Murphy also ranks second on the squad in ground balls with 24.

MLC Players of the Week are selected by the league's head coaches.
