The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-9 decision at Calvin University on Saturday, despite outscoring the home team 7-4 in the second half.

A man-up goal by Forester Jack Langworthy mid-way through the opening quarter and a tally from fellow freshman midfielder Chas Dean at the 8:58 mark of the second were all the scores the visitors could muster in the first half. The Knights led 2-1 after 15 minutes of play and 9-2 at halftime.

Lake Forest sophomore attacker John Casey started the scoring in the third period and freshman midfielder Trip Gaston netted his ninth ninth goal of the year before setting up the second by freshman attacker Bode Rubright later in the quarter. The Foresters surrendered a pair of goals in the period and trailed 11-5 going into the fourth.

Dean struck twice in the final quarter to complete his first career hat trick and take his season total to seven. Freshman attacker/midfielder Will Kerber added his sixth of the year and Casey came up with his second score of the game and team-high 14th this season to double up Calvin 4-2 in the period.

Casey led Lake Forest with six ground balls while freshman defender Conor Murphy added four while causing a team-high five turnovers.

Forester freshman goalie Andrew Widlar made a season-high 13 saves in the contest.

The Knights outshot their guests 51-23 and had a 20-6 advantage in face-off wins on the afternoon.

Lake Forest is now 2-3 and Calvin 6-2 on the season.

The Foresters will travel to Benedictine University Tuesday evening for a 7:00 game.
