Lake Forest Falls to Trine in Series Finale

The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 7-0 by Trine University at home Saturday afternoon.

Three of the visitors' seven goals came on the power play, including the first of the contest at 15:27 in the opening period. The score was 2-0 after the first and 4-0 after another power play goal late in the second.

The teams combined for 11 penalties in the final period and Trine tacked on three more scores, including another power play goal.

Forester senior goaltender Nick Wiencek reached a milestone during the game by recording his 1,000th career save.

Lake Forest actually had a 33-31 advantage in shots on goal in the contest but were unable to get on the scoreboard.

The Foresters fell to 9-10-4 overall and 6-7-3 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association this season. Trine improved to 15-7-1 overall and 10-6-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will close out the regular season against Marian University next weekend. The Foresters will celebrate Senior Night on Friday before the series moves to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on Saturday.
