Freshman forward Griffen Sanom's scored 85 seconds into overtime gave the Lake Forest College men's hockey team a 4-3 victory over Lawrence University at home Saturday night.

Freshman forward Colin Bella, who assisted on Sanom's third goal of the season, had a season-high four points in the contest. The performance began with an assist on the only goal of the opening period, which was scored by junior defenseman Connor Scahill at 9:31.

The home team doubled its lead on a power play goal by Bella at 11:16 in the second. He leads the Foresters with 13 tallies on the season.

Lawrence got on the scoreboard at 15:19 in the second and tied the game with 2:11 to play in the period.

The Foresters regained the lead 98 seconds into the third period when Scahill struck for his second goal of the game and third this season. The Vikings, however, pulled their goaltender with 1:50 remaining and on the power play. The move paid off as they tied the score again with 47.6 seconds on the clock.

The game-winning play started with Bella stealing the puck between the circles at the defensive end of the ice. He slid the puck over to Sanom on his right just before the duo entered the offensive zone on a 2-on-1. Sanom fired a shot over the goalie's right arm and into the net for the victory.

Lake Forest outshot Lawrence 44-29 and senior goaltender Nick Wiencek made 26 saves to earn the victory. He stopped 49 of 52 shots on goal during the weekend series.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record to 9-8-4 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 6-5-3. Lawrence fell to 3-16-2 overall and 2-12-1 in the conference.

Lake Forest will host Trine University next weekend. The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
