Giacomin Named All-NCHA, Derraugh to All-Freshman Team

The Northern Collegiate Hockey association announced the men's end-of-season awards on Thursday and a pair of Foresters made the lists.

Josh Giacomin was named All-NCHA for the second time in his career. The senior forward ranked eighth in the conference with 27 points on 10 goals and 17 assists during league play. He had at least one point in 15 of 18 games and among his scores were three power play goals, a shorthanded goal, a game-winner, and a pair of game-tying tallies. Giacomin was also an All-NCHA selection following his sophomore year and a member of the NCHA All-Freshman Team after the 2018-19 season. He finished his career with 77 points on 35 goals and 42 assists.

Lake Forest defenseman Matteas Derraugh was named to the NCHA All-Freshman Team on Thursday after scoring five goals and adding six assists during conference play. His 11 points ranked tied-for-seventh among defensemen in the league and his five power play goals were tied-for-second among all players. Derraugh also tied for the team lead with a +6 plus/minus rating during NCHA games.

Giacomin is the first Forester to earn multiple all-conference honors in 15 years and Derraugh gives the program seven All-Freshman Team members since 2010.

The 2021-22 Foresters qualified for the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons but fell 2-1 and 3-1 to league champion Adrian College in the quarterfinal round.
