The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 5-1 by Lawrence University at home Friday night.

The Vikings scored the game's first four goals and two of their three tallies in the opening period came on the power play.

Lake Forest finally got on the score board at the 9:20 mark of the third period on the first career goal for freshman forward Tyler Buonopane. He fired a one-timer from the right circle to finish off a successful 2-on-1 opportunity with sophomore forward Ben Perkins making the pass. Senior forward Josh Giacomin started the play with a lead pass to Perkins.

The Foresters pulled their goaltender with 3:24 to play but were unable to get any closer.

Lawrence tacked on an empty net goal just as time expired.

Lake Forest is now 6-13-1 overall and 4-8-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this season. The Vikings improved to 8-9-2 overall and evened their league record at 6-6-1.

The same two teams will face off again in Appleton, Wisconsin, Saturday night at 7:00.
