The Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision at Aurora University Friday afternoon in game one of the teams' home-and-home weekend series.

The Spartans started fast, out-shooting the Foresters 17-8 and scoring three times in the opening period. The Spartans converted their first two power play opportunities, the first at 4:06 and the second at 12:22. They increased their lead to three just 50 seconds later and were still ahead 3-0 when the buzzer sounded.

The home team had a 16-13 advantage in shots on goal in a scoreless second stanza.

The final goal of the contest was scored three minutes into the third period.

Aurora put 45 shots on goal to Lake Forest's 27 in the contest. Forester junior goaltender Nick Wiencek made 41 saves, matching the career-high he set at Aurora earlier this month.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 3-2-1 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 1-1-1. Aurora, ranked ninth in this week's USCHO Poll, remained perfect on the year after seven games, including three league games.

The same two teams will face off again in Lake Forest's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night at 7:00.
