Trailing by two goals with three minutes remaining, the Lake Forest College men's hockey team came back and posted a 4-4 tie with Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday night. The Raiders, however, won the shootout to earn two points to the Foresters' one in the standings.

MSOE had a 12-4 advantage in shots in the opening period but the game was still scoreless after 20 minutes of play. The visitors' edge in shots was 18-11 in the second and they took the lead less than a minute-and-a-half into the period.

Forester senior forward Cullen Kane's first goal of the year tied the score at the 7:20 mark. He was assisted by sophomore forward Shane Hathaway and senior forward Kyle Cote.

The Raiders regained the lead at the 9:43 mark, added a short-handed goal 83 seconds later, and increased their advantage to three goals at the 15:58 mark.

Lake Forest junior forward David Cohen then lit the lamp for the first time this season with just 31.2 seconds on the clock to make the score 4-2 going into the third period. He was assisted by senior forward Josh Giacomin.

It remained a 4-2 game until junior forward Drew Shields finally broke through at the 17:23 mark. His first score of the season was assisted by junior defenseman Brendan Coughlin. The Foresters pulled their goalie in the final minute of regulation and the move paid off when Giacomin tied the score with 36.5 seconds remaining. Hathaway earned his second assist of the night on the game-tying goal.

After a scoreless overtime that included a power play opportunity for each team, the game went to a shootout. The Foresters were first and did not score in any of the three rounds. The Raiders were also unsuccessful in the first two rounds but converted in the third to earn an extra point in the league standings.

Lake Forest is now 2-1-1 and MSOE 1-0-2 overall on the season. The same two teams will face off again in Milwaukee Saturday night at 7:00.
