Three Foresters Named All-NCHA, Kelliher Coach of the Year

The All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Hockey Teams and other end of season award winners were announced on Thursday and Lake Forest College was well-represented. Josh Giacomin, Mark DerManulian, and Aaron O'Neill were named All-NCHA and Patrick Kelliher was selected as the NCHA Coach of the year.

Giacomin leads the Foresters with 15 goals and 31 points on the season and he ranks 11th in the nation in goals per game and 18th in points per contest. Despite missing four conference games due to injury, his 26 points on 14 goals and a dozen assists during NCHA play were just one shy of the league leaders. The sophomore forward had two or more points in 9 of 16 NCHA contests.

DerManulian ranked first among league defensemen with 26 points and the junior is fifth overall with 22 assists, the most by a Forester since 2005-06. Eighteen of his assists came during NCHA play and he had at least one in 13 of 20 conference games.

O'Neill has 30 points on 12 goals and 18 assists this season. Just one player in the league has more power play goals than his seven and his 14 points on the power play this season are tied for the third-highest total in the NCHA. The junior forward posted nine multi-point performances in 17 conference games.

Kelliher's Foresters are 18-6-3 overall and finished second in the NCHA standings at 14-4-2 in league play. They matched the fourth-highest victory total in team history with all three of the seasons above them on the list occurring in the 1970s. Lake Forest was ranked as high as sixth in the nation in the USCHO.com Top 15 Poll and is currently at #14. Kelliher is the program's third NCHA Coach of the Year, joining Ryan McKelvie in 2014 and Tony Fritz a decade earlier.
