Senior defenseman Connor Duncan started a third period comeback but the Foresters were eventually defeated 4-2 by visiting Aurora University Tuesday night.

Duncan's second score of the season at the 13:31 mark of the third period trimmed the Spartans' lead to 2-1. He was assisted by freshman defenseman Scotty Nicholson and sophomore forward Josh Giacomin. The Foresters then tied the score just 85 seconds later on sophomore forward Cullen Kane's second goal of the year. Junior forward Aaron O'Neill set up the tying score for his team-high ninth point of 2019-20.

Aurora, however, regained the lead at the 16:39 mark and tacked on an empty net goal with a minute-and-a-half to play in the contest.

The visitors had originally taken the lead with 45 seconds left in the opening period and made the score 2-0 at 11:43 in the second.

The Spartans had a 30-12 advantage in shots on goal through 40 minutes of play and the Foresters out-shot their guests 12-11 in the final stanza.

Lake Forest freshman goaltender Carson Poulin stopped 37 of the 40 shots on goal he faced in his collegiate debut.

The non-conference loss dropped the Foresters overall record to 5-2-1 while Aurora improved to 6-1-0.

After a weekend off, Lake Forest will host St. Olaf College on the final day of November and first of December. That Saturday's contest will begin at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon's face-off is scheduled for 2:00.
