Senior defenseman Connor Duncan scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 11:40 in the second period and the Foresters held on for a 2-1 triumph at Marian University Friday night.

Duncan's first score of the season broke a 1-1 tie and was assisted by sophomore forward Kyle Cote and senior forward Austin Aksoy.

The Forester never trailed in the contest and had taken the lead the first time on sophomore forward Will Lebel's third goal of the year just two-and-a-half minutes into the game.

Despite being out-shot 16-5 in the opening period, Lake Forest took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at the first intermission.

The Sabres tied the score at the 7:21 mark of the second period and the teams remained tied until Duncan's goal.

Marian put three more shots on goal than the Foresters in each of the final two periods and finished the game with a 34-17 edge in that category.

Lake Forest junior goaltender Boyd DiClemente made 33 saves in 34 chances on the night and improved his save percentage on the year to .925 and goals against average to 2.31.

The Foresters are now 4-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Marian fell to 2-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the league. The teams will face off again Saturday night at 7:00, this time in Lake Forest's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
