Boyd DiClemente Named NCHA Defensive Player of the Week

Lake Forest College hockey player Boyd DiClemente was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in a pair of Forester victories at St. Norbert College over the weekend.

DiClemente, a junior goaltender, made 25 saves in Friday night's 1-0 triumph over the third-ranked team in the nation. It was his first career shutout and the Foresters' first blanking of the Green Knights since they prevailed by the same score on November 5, 1999.

Lake Forest also defeated St. Norbert 4-3 with DiClemente making 29 saves on Saturday. He kept the home team off the scoreboard for the first two periods and held on in the third to earn the win. The Foresters had not swept a weekend series with the Knights since 1992.

Victories in the first two conference games of the year improved Lake Forest's overall record on the young season to 3-0-1.

NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of media and information. A Forester goaltender has now earned the weekly honor at least once in eight of the last nine seasons.
