Foresters Edge Out Saint Mary's for First Win of the Year

Freshman David Cohen scored the first two goals of his career Saturday afternoon in Lake Forest's 4-3 victory at Saint Mary's University.

The Foresters trailed 1-0 at the game's midpoint but Cohen tied the score at the 10:22 mark of the second period and then gave the visitors the lead on a power play goal just 92 seconds later. Senior Zach Feldman and freshman Drew Shields set up Cohen's first career goal and the second was assisted by junior Aaron O'Neill and sophomore Cullen Kane.

The home team pulled even at the 14:33 mark but Lake Forest regained the lead on Feldman's first goal of the season just 28 seconds later.

Forester sophomore Will Lebel added an insurance goal, which proved to be the official game-winner, seven minutes into the final period. O'Neill recorded his second assist of the contest and team-high fourth points of the weekend on the play.

Lake Forest was out-shot 36-28 in the game but Forester goaltender Boyd DiClemente made 33 saves to earn the victory.

The Foresters are 1-0-1 after the season-opening series at Saint Mary's and will begin Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at defending league champion St. Norbert College next weekend. The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
