Forester Athlete of the Week: George Argiropoulos

Lake Forest College men's hockey player George Argiropoulos was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday.

Argiropoulos, who was also announced as the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, helped the Foresters find success in a pair of close games on the road last weekend. Lake Forest skated to a 1-1 tie Friday night at St. Norbert College, the sixth-ranked team in the nation, and the senior goaltender finished with 29 saves, including three in overtime. The visitors trailed much of the contest but scored in the final minute of regulation to earn a point in the standings.

The Foresters pulled out a 3-2 victory in overtime at Finlandia University on Saturday and Argiropoulos was once again stellar between the pipes. He made 28 saves in the contest to finish the weekend 1-0-1 with a 1.40 goals against average and save percentage of .950.

Lake Forest is now tied for second place in the NCHA South Division standings at 4-2-2 in league play and will host division-leading Adrian College, the seventh-ranked team in the country, on Friday and Trine University on Saturday.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
