Junior defenseman Zach Feldman's first goal of the season was not enough as the Forester men's hockey team was defeated 2-1 Friday night at Marian University.

Feldman converted a power play opportunity at the 7:02 mark of the opening period to tie the score at one. He was assisted by sophomore forward Joe Sardina and sophomore defenseman Mark DerManulian.

The Sabres had scored the game's first goal at the 3:42 mark. They netted what proved to be the game-winner while on the power play at 11:32 in the third.

Both teams put 11 shots on the goal in the game's first 20 minutes. Marian then out-shot the Foresters 11-4 in the second period and 8-4 in the third.

Lake Forest senior goaltender Louis-Philippe De Courcy finished the night with 28 saves in 30 chances, stopped at least 90 percent of shots on goal for the fifth time in as many games this season.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the year to 0-3-2 and they are now 0-2-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Marian improved to 3-0-0, both overall and in the league.

Lake Forest will make the short trip to Appleton, Wisconsin, to face off against Lawrence University Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
