Freshman forward Joe Sardina pulled the Foresters to within a goal twice in the third period but the Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday night.

Sardina, who now has a game-high six goals on the season, scored his first of the night at the 11:57 mark to make the score 2-1. Senior forward Charlie Izaguirre and junior forward Drew Cleerman assisted on the goal.

A Forester penalty at 16:06 gave the Falcons a power play opportunity and the visitors took advantage just 31 seconds later to regain their two-goal lead.

Lake Forest went on the power play with 1:22 remaining and head coach Patrick Kelliher used his time out and pulled his goaltender. The move paid off just eight seconds later when Sardina lit the lamp for the second time in the game. Senior forwards George Gerasimou and Billy Kent were each credited with an assist and they continue to share the team lead with a dozen points and nine assists on the year.

The Foresters gained control of the puck in their zone with a little more than a minute to play and junior goaltender Louis-Philippe De Courcy raced to the bench as they moved up the ice. The home team was able to keep the puck at the offensive end of the ice the rest of the way but was unable to tie the score.

Lake Forest is now 7-4-0 this season while Concordia Wisconsin improved to 7-2-1. Both teams are 4-2-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play.

It was the final game of the fall semester for the Foresters, whose next two games will be played in Massachusetts at the end of the month. Lake Forest will take on Babson College on December 30 and Corry College the next day.
