Lake Forest Drops Series Opener to Nation's Eighth-Ranked Team

Senior forward Jack Lewis scored his 12th goal of the season but the Forester men's hockey team was defeated 5-1 by visiting Adrian College Friday night.

Lewis lit the lamp at the 7:40 mark of the second period to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 3-1. He was assisted by sophomore forwards Bron Loisell and Cody Guidorzi. Lewis leads the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and in tied for fifth in the nation in goals.

Adrian had taken the early lead at the 4:18 mark of the opening period. Another score at 11:54 and a power play goal at 13:37 gave the visitors a 3-0 after 20 minutes of play.

After the score by Lewis, the Bulldogs regained their three-goal lead at 14:32 in the second and tacked on a power play insurance goal at 15:39. Neither team scored in the final 24 minutes.

Adrian, the eighth-ranked team in the nation, had a 42-25 advantage in shots on goal in the contest.

The Foresters fell to 9-7-0 overall and 5-6-0 in NCHA play while Adrian improved to 11-3-2 overall and 10-1-0 in the league. The same two teams will face off again Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
