Forester senior forward Anthony Annunziato scored the game's first goal but the Lake Forest College men's hockey team eventually fell 4-3 to visiting Northland College on Saturday.

Annunziato's fourth goal of the season was scored at the 1:42 mark of the second period. Sophomore forward Drew Cleereman and junior forward Davis DeKorte assisted on the goal.

After killing three penalties in the opening period, the Foresters were unable to stop the LumberJacks from scoring with a 4-on-3 advantage at the 4:50 mark of the second.

The home team was down a man again a few minutes later when senior forward Jack Lewis gave Lake Forest the lead again on his third career short-handed goal. It was his 11th score this season, which ranks second in the nation.

Northland, however, tied the game again at the 17:05 mark and the score was 2-2 after two periods of play.

The visitors took the lead at the 14:34 mark of the third period and converted a power play opportunity just 94 seconds later.

The Foresters pulled their goalie while on the power play with two-and-a-half minutes to play and pulled back to within a goal a minute later. It was the sixth score of the season for sophomore forward Bron Loiselle, who was assisted by senior forward Jimmy Cusan.

Lake Forest put two more shots on goal but was unable to complete the comeback and fell to 8-5-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association this season. Northland improved to 4-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the league. The Foresters defeated the LumberJacks 6-1 the night before as the teams split the season series for the third year in a row.

Lake Forest will not play again until taking on Milwaukee School of Engineering in a home-and-home series January 6-7.
