Junior forward Jack Lewis scored late to avoid a shutout as the Forester men's hockey team was defeated 5-1 at #9 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday.

Lewis lit the lamp with just 25 seconds remaining in the contest. His third goal of the season was assisted by senior defenseman Robert Weiner and sophomore forward Charlie Izaguirre and extended the team's streak of scoring at least one goal to 35 games.

The game was scoreless until the 2:42 mark of the second period. Eau Claire scored again at 14:45 and led 2-0 going into the third.

The home team extended the lead with three scores in a three-minute span late in the third period. The first of the three scores came at 14:43, the second just 68 seconds later, and the third at 17:34.

The Foresters were out-shot in each period and by a 44-28 margin on the night.

The non-conference loss leaved Lake Forest with an overall record of 3-5-0 this season while Eau Claire improved to 5-1-2.

The Foresters will be off next weekend and will resume Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play the following weekend at Northland College. The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and again the following afternoon at 3:00.
