The Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting College of St. Scholastica Saturday night in the opener of the teams' two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup quarterfinal series. Senior forward Bobby Barrett scored the Foresters' only goal of the night.

Barrett's 11th score this season gave the home team the lead at the 5:14 mark of the opening period. The power play goal was assisted by senior defenseman Ben Certo.

Both of St. Scholastica's goals also came on the power play, the first with just 22.3 seconds remaining before the first intermission. The Saints struck again at the 6:26 mark of the second period and the teams played scoreless hockey the rest of the way.

After being out-shot 17-3 in the game's first 20 minutes, Lake Forest had a 16-5 edge in shots on goal in the second. St. Scholastica put eight shots on goal to the Foresters' seven in the final period and out-shot the home team 30-26 in the contest.

Forester junior goaltender Leo Podolsky made 24 saves in 26 chances, giving him a save percentage of at least .900 in 20 of 24 appearances this year.

Lake Forest fell to 14-7-5 on the season while St. Scholastica improved to 12-11-3. The same two teams will face off in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in game two of the series Sunday at 5:00 p.m. The Foresters would need a victory in that contest as well as a win in the ensuing 20-minute minigame to advance in the Harris Cup Playoffs.
