Lake Forest Skates to 5-5 Tie at Hamline

The Forester men's hockey team tied host Hamline University 5-5 Friday night. Lake Forest senior forward Jason McAloon scored a pair of goals for the visitors.

McAloon lit the lamp twice in the second period to give the Foresters a 2-1 lead. He was assisted by sophomore Anthony Annunziato and senior defenseman Charlie Stein at 7:58 and his fifth score of the season was set up by senior forward Jordan Bruce and freshman George Gerasimou five minutes later.

Senior forward Bobby Barrett added to the Forester lead at 15:16. His third goal of the year was assisted by junior defenseman Robert Weiner. Freshman forward Davis DeKorte's first career goal capped off a season-best four-goal period at 17:01. Senior forward Mcauley Banning and freshman forward Charlie Izaguirre assisted on the play.

After Hamline scored the only power play goal of the game 66 seconds into the third period, Lake Forest regained its three-goal lead at 3:31 on sophomore forward Manny Counsman's second goal of 2014-15. He was assisted by senior forward Luke Swardenski.

The Pipers pulled off the dramatic comeback with scores at 8:02, 11:42, and 17:37 by the same player. The home team out-shot Lake Forest 17-9 in the third period and overtime combined and 40-30 on the night.

Forester freshman goaltender Lyndon Stanwood tallied 35 saves in his first career start.

Lake Forest is now 7-3-4 and Hamline 4-4-4 on the season.

The Foresters will play their second straight game in the Twin Cities on Saturday, facing off at Bethel University at 3:00 p.m.
