Foresters Defeated at Nation's 10th-Ranked Team

The Lake Forest College men's hockey team fell 4-1 Friday night at the College of St. Scholastica. Forester freshman forward Jack Lewis started the scoring with a short-handed goal but the visitors were unable to hold off the Saints, who are ranked 10th in the country by USCHO.com.

The first career short-handed goal for Lewis was assisted by junior defenseman Anthony Martinez at the 4:45 mark of the opening period. Lake Forest was out-shot 7-3 in the game's first 20 minutes and a St. Scholastica score at 10:37 made the score 1-1 at the first intermission.

Lake Forest had a 12-9 advantage in shots on goal in the second period but the Saints scored at 6:04 to take the lead and added a power play goal at 9:25.

The Foresters continued to make the St. Scholastica goaltender work in the third period, putting 13 shots on goal to the home team's seven. Lake Forest was unable to score, however, and St. Scholastica tacked on an empty net goal with 17 seconds remaining in the contest.

Lake Forest fell to 5-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. St. Scholastica is now 7-1-2 overall and undefeated in five league games.

The same two teams will face off again Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
