Foresters Come Up Just Short at Nation's #15 Team

The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 2-1 at Milwaukee School of Engineering, the 15th-ranked team in the nation, Saturday night. Forester freshman Alec DeAngelo scored his first career goal in the loss.

DeAngelo's goal was assisted by fellow freshman Ian Pichel with a minute-and-a-half remaining in the second period and trimmed the Raider lead to 2-1. It turned out to be the final score of the contest.

After a scoreless opening period, MSOE had taken the lead on a 4-on-4 goal at the 12:50 mark of the second period and netted another score shortly after the completion of a Forester penalty at 15:49.

Lake Forest outshot the home team 16-6 in the first period and 34-27 in the game.

Forester senior goaltender Brendan Sullivan made 27 saves in the contest, including 13 in the second period, and raised his save percentage on the year to .923.

Lake Forest fell to 2-7-2 overall this season and 1-6-1 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Raiders are now 6-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the league.

The Foresters will play a non-conference series with visiting St. Mary's University next weekend. The teams will face off at 7:30 Friday night and at 4:30 Saturday afternoon.
