Foresters Skate to 3-3 Tie at Hamline

The Lake Forest College men's hockey team tied host Hamilne University 3-3 Saturday evening. Sophomore Jason McAloon assisted on two of the Foresters' three goals.

McAloon and fellow sophomore Anthony Martinez set up junior Pat Charron for the first goal of the contest at the 8:10 mark of the opening period. It was Charron's second goal of the weekend and third this season.

Hamline tied the score on a power play goal at 13:04 in the first period and took the lead six minutes into the second.

Forester sophomore Dave Grannis lit the lamp for the first time in his career just 14 seconds later. Junior Roberto Caparelli assisted on the score.

The Pipers, however, regained the lead on another power play score with 2:53 remaining in the period.

The official game-tying goal was scored by junior Mike Violette with 8:40 to play in regulation. It was Violette's second score of the weekend and season and McAloon recorded his team-high sixth assist of the year.

Lake Forest was outshot during the first two periods but had a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal in the third and a 3-1 edge in the scoreless five-minute overtime.

Forester senior goaltender Brendan Sullivan entered the game at the start of the third period and made six saves while holding the Pipers scoreless the rest of the way.

Lake Forest is now 2-6-1 on the year and Hamline is 0-8-2.

The Foresters will resume Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play next weekend against Milwaukee School of Engineering. The teams will face off at 7:00 Friday night in Lake Forest and again at the same time in Milwaukee on Saturday.
