Foresters Edged out at Salve Regina

The Lake Forest College men's hockey team fell 2-1 at Salve Regina University on Wednesday. The Foresters' goal was the first career score for freshman Mcauley Banning.

All three goals in the game were scored during the second period. Banning's was unassisted and gave the visitors the lead at the 9:15 mark. Salve Regina tied the score at 13:49 and the Seahawks' power play goal with 28 seconds on the clock proved to be the game-winner.

Lake Forest out-shot the home team 10-5 in the game's first 20 minutes but Salve Regina had a 19-12 advantage in the second. Both teams put 13 shots on goal in the third.

Forester senior goaltender Marc Stuart matched his season-high with 35 saves and his .946 save percentage on the day is his highest mark of the year.

Lake Forest's second straight one-goal loss drops its record on the season to 1-11-0 while the Seahawks raised their mark to 4-10-0.

The Foresters will return home to face Northland College on January 13 and 14. Saturday night's game will begin at 7:00 and the teams will face off again at 2:00 Sunday afternoon.
