St. Olaf capitalized on special teams in the third period with two shorthanded goals and a power play goal to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Lake Forest men's hockey team 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Mike Violette scored for the Foresters.

St. Olaf got (6-2-2) on the board at 5:23 of the first period as the puck ricocheted off the skate of Jeff Harris and into the net. Lake Forest (1-7-0) tied the game just 25 seconds later on Violette's second goal of the season. Sophomores Craig McDowell and Roberto Caparelli assisted on the goal.

After a scoreless second period, St. Olaf scored the first of three goals in the third period at 8:25 on the powerplay by Ross Trousdale. Shorthanded goals at 13:30 by Dylan Porter and at 19:45 by Justin Thomas put the game out of reach for the Foresters.
