Lake Forest Falls at Marian in Season Opener

The Forester men's hockey team began the 2010-11 season with a 3-0 loss at Marian University Friday night. The same two teams will face off in Lake Forest's home opener Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Marian had an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period and led 1-0 when the buzzer sounded. The goal was scored at 13:13.

Both teams put eight shots on goal in the second and the Sabres lit the lamp twice in the period. The first goal was scored at 12:30 and the second on the power play at 17:41.

Lake Forest accounted for six of the final period's 10 shots on goal but was unable to mount a comeback.

Forester junior goaltender Marc Stuart finished with 17 saves in the contest.

Marian raised its overall record to 2-1-0. It was the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both teams. It was also the collegiate head coaching debut for Lake Forest's Ryan McKelvie, who will look for his first career victory tomorrow night at home.
