Lake Forest Closes Out Regular Season with 5-4 Loss at Concordia Wisconsin

The Forester men's hockey team dropped a 5-4 decision at Concordia University Wisconsin in the team's regular season finale. Lake Forest freshman Chris Gard and Pat Charron each scored his first career goal.

Gard's goal was the first of the game for the visitors and occurred at the 17:13 mark of the opening period. Freshman Zach Smith and sophomore Trent Brown assisted on the play and Concordia Wisconsin led 2-1 after the game's first 20 minutes.

Brown then tied the score on a power play goal at 5:57 in the second period. Senior Tyler Gross assisted on the score, Brown's third of the year. Charron put the Foresters ahead 77 just seconds later with Chris Gard and junior Joel Gard each picking up an assist.

Concordia Wisconsin tied the score on a shorthanded goal at 10:08 in the second period and then regained the lead with just four seconds on the clock. The Falcons made it 5-3 on a power play goal at 6:20 in the third.

The Foresters scored what turned out to be the game's final goal with 9:32 to play in the contest. It was a powr play goal by sophomore Tom Bark, his sixth of the season, and was assisted by junior Chad Thompson and freshman Matt Davis.

Lake Forest fell to 5-19-1 overall and 5-14-1 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play. Concordia Wisconsin finished the year 2-22-1 overall and 2-17-1 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering, which entered this weekend ranked eighth in the nation, next weekend for a two-game MCHA quarterfinal series.
