Tyler Gross Named 2011 Peter Taylor Award Winner

The Lake Forest hockey team's Peter Taylor Award was presented to senior Tyler Gross Saturday night by head coach Seamus Gregory and College President Stephen D. Schutt. The ceremony occurred between the first and second periods of the Foresters' game against Marian University.

The Peter Taylor Memorial Hockey Award was established by Peter's family, friends, and teammates to celebrate his life and continue his memory. The Taylor Award is presented annually to the Forester, selected by his teammates, whose outstanding talent, leadership, and love for the game best exemplify the qualities that Peter possessed. In three years at Lake Forest, Taylor recorded 136 points and earned All-American honors. He graduated in 1973 with a degree in politics.

Gross is the Foresters' active leader in games played. He debuted in December of 2007 and was voted the Foresters' Most Improved Player at the end of that season. Throughout his career he has been an active member of the campus community and an excellent representative of Forester Athletics. He has held the position of Athletic Council vice president, served on Lake Forest's Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and represented the College at the NCAA National Leadership Conference. He will graduate in May with a degree in business and hails from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Six previous Taylor Award winners - Joe Donlan (1995), Sam McKenney (1996), Aaron Vickar (1999), Brian Lee (2007), assistant coach Brandon Kohuch (2009), and Adam Love (2010) were in attendance and were also recognized prior to the presentation of this year's award.
