Lake Forest Unable to Hold onto Early Lead Against Adrian

The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 6-2 by visiting Adrian College, the 10th-ranked team in the nation, on Saturday. A power play by Phil Bushbacher gave Lake Forest a 2-0 lead late in the first period but the home team was unable to hold on for the victory.

Forester freshman Chris Gard gave put the home team ahead at the 12:27 mark of the opening period. His second goal of the season was assisted by sophomore Zak Borowski and senior Jordan Cutler. Borowski'a assist extended his season-opening point streak to six games.

Sophomore Tom Bark assisted on Bushbacher's second score of the year at 16:01.

The Bulldogs responded with a power play goal of their own at 18:25 and the Foresters led 2-1 at the first intermission.

Adrian tied the game at 2:44 in the second period and took the lead at 6:02. The visitors added another power play goal at 15:30 and led 4-2 going into the third.

The Bulldogs tacked on another goal midway through the final period and converted a power play opportunity with 2:24 remaining to close out the scoring.

The Foresters fell to 2-4-0 on the season and Adrian raised its record to 5-1-0. All six of each teams games have been in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play.

Lake Forest will take on third-ranked St. Norbert College in a non-conference game Tuesday night at 7:30.
