Lake Forest College men's hockey player Trent Brown
(Ayr, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings) was named Midwest Collegiate
Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (January
18) for his performance in a home-and-home series against league
foe Concordia University Wisconsin the previous weekend (January
15-16).
Brown, a freshman defenseman, assisted on three important goals
during slightly more than seven minutes of play in the Foresters'
8-3 victory at home Friday night. Trailing 3-1, he set up a power
play goal late in the second period, an even-strength score just 28
seconds into the third, and another goal at the 5:22 mark.
Lake Forest erased a four-goal deficit in Saturday night's 5-5 tie
at Concordia Wisconsin. Brown was on the ice when the visitors
pulled the goalie and scored with a minute remaining in regulation
to pull to within one goal. He then helped set up the official
game-tying score with just nine seconds on the clock.
Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association weekly award winners are
selected by the league's sports information director. Brown was the
MCHA Freshman of the Week on November 9.
