The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 4-1 at
Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday night (January 8). The
non-conference loss drops the Foresters' overall record on the
season to 3-8. The Raiders raised their record to 6-6-1.
M.S.O.E. out-shot the Foresters 18-15 in the opening period and
scored the only goal of the frame with just 19 seconds left on the
clock.
Lake Forest tied the score at the 4:24 mark of the second period on
freshman Mike Rubino's (Woodbridge, Ontario/St. Michael's Buzzers).
He was assisted by twin brother Marc Rubino (Woodbridge,
Ontario/St. Michael's Buzzers) and senior Peter Pfeffer (Farmington
Hills, Mich./Walpole Stars).
The Raiders, who put 21 shots on goal in the second period to the
Foresters' 14, regained the lead at the 9:20 mark.
The home team then pulled away with a power play goal 67 seconds
into the third period and the final score of the contest at 4:56.
The Raiders held a 14-8 edge in shots on goal in the period.
Lake Forest freshman goaltender Mike McDonald (Whitby,
Ontario/Orangeville Crushers) tallied 49 saves in his first career
start.
The Foresters will resume Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association
play at Lawrence University Saturday night (January 9) at 7:00.
