Foresters Take on Tough Competition at Illinois Wesleyan Invitational

The Lake Forest College men's golf team placed 23rd at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational over the weekend. The tournament was held on the 6,901-yard, par-72 Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.

Junior Jack Dwyer led the Foresters for the second time in as many events this spring. His 5-over 77 on Friday included a pair of birdies and he was under par on three consecutive holes during Saturday's round of 78. Dwyer tied for 38th out of 131 players in the tournament and just 12 golfers had more than his five birdies on the weekend.

Sophomore Ryan Higgins was next on the team and tied-for-72nd overall at 160. He carded 11 birdies during each of his rounds.

Lake Forest junior James Johnson finished with a 36-hole score of 163 while freshman Chris Petri and junior Connor Lindley posted scores of 173 and 178, respectively.

Illinois Wesleyan won the event with a 6-over 582 on the weekend, which was 22 shots better than runners-up Aurora University and Webster University. The Foresters were 23rd at 651.

Lake Forest will compete in another two-day event next weekend. The Augustana Invite will take place at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday.
