Lake Forest Finishes 15th at Jim Wetherbee Memorial

The Forester men's golf team improved by 17 strokes between Saturday and Sunday and finished 15th at Knox College's Jim Wetherbee Memorial Tournament over the weekend. The event was played at Soangetaha Country Club in Galesburg, Illinois.

Junior Jack Dwyer was the team's top player in both rounds, following up Saturday's 79 with a 75 on Sunday on the 6,551-yard par-72 course. He played holes 8-18 on Friday in even par and carded four birdies on the weekend. Dwyer tied for 17th place in the 116-player field with a two-day score of 154.

Lake Forest's other four players finished within five strokes of each other. Junior Connor Lindley was next with an 83 in round one and an 82 in round two. Both of those rounds included a pair of birdies and he tied for 66th overall at 165. Juniors Marty Swab and James Johnson posted final scores of 167 and 169, respectively, and freshman Chris Petri registered a 170.

Aurora University finished first in the team standings at 603, four shots better than runner-up University of Wisconsin-Stout. At 647, the Foresters were 15th but just six strokes out of ninth.

Lake Forest will return to central Illinois next Friday and Saturday for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
