Foresters Take on Tough Competition at Carthage Fall Invite

The Lake Forest College men's golf team placed 16th at the Carthage Fall Invite over the weekend.

Sophomore Ryan Higgins turned in the Foresters' best round of the weekend with a 4-over 75 on Friday. He had a pair of birdies on both days and his final score of 160 was tied-for-78th with classmate Marty Swab and six other players in the 107-golfer field.

Lake Forest's top 36-hole score came from freshman Chris Petri, who carded five birdies and 19 pars during his 78 on Friday and 77 on Saturday. He tied for 52nd place overall.

Junior Jack Dwyer match Petri with five birdies at the event and led the team on Saturday with a 76. He tide for 67th in the tournament at 158.

Fellow junior James Johnson finished just one shot behind Higgins and Swab.

Aurora University won the tournament, edging out Illinois Wesleyan University by two strokes with a 36-hole score of 580. 

The Foresters will travel to Hartford, Wisconsin, for the Wisconsin Lutheran College Fall Invitational next Saturday and Sunday. The opening round at Washington County Golf Course is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. and the second will start at 8:00 in the morning.
