Foresters Win Own Invite by Nine Strokes

Lake Forest College men's golf had three of the top seven individuals and finished first as a team at the Forester Spring Invite on Saturday.

Sophomore James Johnson led the Lake Forest Black team and was third in the 43-player field with a 3-over 75 at White Deer Run Golf Club in nearly Vernon Hills, Illinois. His round included 11 pars and birdies on the par-4 9th and 13th.

Forester freshman Ryan Higgins was a shot behind Johnson and tied-for-fourth overall with a 76 that included a birdie on the opening hole and another on the par-5 17th. Sophomore Jack Dwyer also had two birdies during his round of 77 and freshman Chris Cho had one while shooting an 80. They finished seventh and tied-for-14th on the individual standings.

Freshman Connor Lindley matched Cho with an 80 to lead the Lake Forest Red squad to a seventh-place finish.

The Foresters' top team's score of 308 was two shots off its best round of the year and nine strokes ahead of runner-up Knox College.

Lake Forest will be back in action Sunday at the Carroll Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The even will be played at Dretzka Park.
